GAME TIME/LOCATION: 6:35 p.m. at New Britain Stadium (New Britain, Conn.)

TONIGHT’S MATCHUP: The Long Island Ducks (19-16, 59-46) hit the road for a seven-game trip, starting with four in New Britain (14-23, 50-57). Despite dropping two of three against Lancaster, the Ducks remain in first place in the Liberty Division. Long Island leads Bridgeport by a half game and Somerset by one game. The Bees sit in fourth place in the division, trailing the Ducks by six games. Against New Britain, Matt Wessinger leads all active players with a .450 batting average (9-for-20), while Fehlandt Lentini has driven in a team-leading 10 runs.

YESTERDAY’S RESULT: The Ducks dropped their second consecutive game, falling to the Barnstormers 12-0 in the series finale on Sunday.

K.C. Hobson’s two home runs, four RBIs, and three runs led Lancaster. Mike McDade and Josh Bell collected three hits and an RBI apiece. A double and triple by Delta Cleary Jr. lifted the Long Island offense.

Barnstormers right-hander Bryan Evans earned the victory with a complete game shutout, striking out 13 batters. Nick Struck pitched well but suffered the loss, tossing five and two-thirds innings of seven-hit ball. The righty yielded three runs (two earned) on two walks and seven strikeouts.

ON THE MOUND: Mike Jackson Jr., recently acquired from the Pacific Association, makes his first start in the Atlantic League for the Ducks. Jackson Jr. has played independent baseball since 2010 when he signed with the Florence Freedom in the Frontier League out of Penn State Greater Allegheny. This season, Jackson Jr. has posted an 8-2 record with a 3.91 ERA with the Sonoma Stoppers. The 27-year-old is 20-17 as a professional, allowing 5.22 runs per nine innings. The right-hander has struck out 279 batters in 324.1 innings, averaging 7.7 per nine innings in his pro career.

Daniel Sattler makes his third start with the New Britain Bees. The former 44th round draft selection of the Texas Rangers in 2006 made 15 appearances with Campeche of the Mexican League earlier this season. Both of the Indiana native’s starts have come against York. His most recent, on August 10, resulted in a loss in which he allowed two runs on three hits and four walks. He fanned four over five and two-thirds innings in a 2-0 Bees loss. Ironically, Sattler called New Britain home in 2012 and 2013 when the righty played in the Minnesota Twins system for the Rock Cats.
