GAME TIME/LOCATION: 6:12 p.m. at Ballpark at Harbor Yard (Bridgeport, CT)

TONIGHT’S MATCHUP: The Long Island Ducks (33-28) meet the Bridgeport Bluefish (27-34) in the third game of a four-game set. With a win Friday, the Ducks lead the 2016 Ferry Cup Series 6-2 over the Bluefish. With nine games remaining in the first half, the Ducks sit two-and-a-half games behind the Somerset Patriots. Long Island has a two-and-a-half game lead over third place New Britain.

YESTERDAY’S RESULT: Bruce Kern’s gem snapped the Ducks’ four-game losing streak as Long Island defeated Bridgeport 1-0 on Friday.

For seven and one-third innings, Kern’s arsenal of pitches was virtually untouchable. Over the span, the righty struck out eight and gave up just four hits. Of the five Bluefish to reach base against Kern, only one made it to second base. He retired eight by way of the ground ball, inducing two double plays.

The Ducks scored the game’s lone run in the fourth inning. Following a double from Fehlandt Lentini, Cody Puckett’s line drive to center field brought in the run. It was the only hiccup allowed by Bridgeport starter Jonathan Albaladejo, who allowed one run on five hits with six strikeouts over six and one-third innings.

With a runner at second base and one out in the seventh, Kern was replaced by Patrick Crider. Crider prompted back-to-back groundouts to save the one-run lead. Todd Coffey pitched a scoreless ninth inning to record his 10th save.

Delta Cleary Jr. had two hits, while Blake Tekotte added a double to lead Long Island.

ON THE MOUND: Jack Snodgrass faces Bridgeport for the first time in his career. The left-hander ranks second in the league in strikeouts (71) behind teammate Darin Downs. With a 5-5 record, Snodgrass is tied for second in the league in wins. Following four consecutive quality starts of at least six innings allowing two or less runs, the former San Francisco farm hand gave up a season-high seven earned runs over six and two-thirds innings on June 20 at York. In that contest, Snodgrass had yielded just two earned runs heading into the seventh inning, but York rallied for five runs against the lefty.

Mike Antonini takes on the Ducks for the third time in 2016. The left-hander out of Glen Mills, Pa. is 0-1 with a 1.50 ERA in two starts against Long Island. In 12 innings, the second-year Bluefish has allowed two earned runs on 11 hits with six strikeouts and one walk. Antonini struck out a season-high eight batters in his past start, on June 20 against Lancaster, but did not receive a decision in the 3-1 Bridgeport loss. Over his four June starts, Antonini is 0-2, receiving an average of 2.75 per game from his offense.
