Ballpark Battle, Sports Illustrated Feature and 2014 Playoff Schedule
The 2014 Atlantic League playoffs begin tonight. Although the Ducks will not be contending for an unprecedented third consecutive Atlantic League title, the four teams in the postseason will hopefully provide some exciting games over the next two weeks. Before we get to the first round schedule, here are some news stories from the Duck Pond today:
Bethpage Ballpark, the home of the Ducks, has been chosen to participate in the Baseball America “Battle of the Ballparks” competition. The winners will be included in the 2015 Great Parks Calendar, which will feature 12 color photos of great professional baseball parks.
Cast your vote now by CLICKING HERE! Bethpage Ballpark is competing with Uni-Trade Stadium, the home of the Laredo Lemurs in the independent American Association. Simply “Like” the Baseball America Facebook page and then click the “Vote” icon on the right side of the page beneath the photo of Bethpage Ballpark.
Fans can vote once per day from now through Monday, September 29. There are four other ballparks currently competing for spots in the 2015 Great Parks Calendar. However, the Ducks are the only team from the Atlantic League in the competition. To cast your vote in the remaining two matchups and see which other ballparks have won, CLICK HERE.
On Saturday, August 30, Sports Illustrated paid a visit to Bethpage Ballpark during the Ducks game against the Camden Riversharks. That night, they “messed with” Ducks shortstop Dan Lyons by changing an integral part of every ballplayer’s in-game routine.
