Spring Training Game 4: Ducks vs. Black Sox – Part II

Cody-Puckett-Spring
The exhibition schedule wraps up today for the Long Island Ducks when they host the semi-pro Long Island Black Sox at 1:05 p.m. The Flock defeated the Black Sox on Monday afternoon by a final count of 8-6, with Anthony Armenio’s solo home run in the 10th inning serving as the game-winning hit. Ducks pitching was a big story yesterday, as they combined to strike out a total of 18 batters over 11 innings and did not allow a walk. In fact, aside from the third inning where Shaun Garceau allowed five runs, the pitching staff put up the following line:

10.0 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 17 K

Today, it appears that the teams are only scheduled to play seven innings since most guys got their work in during Monday’s game. Once again, admission to the game is free for Season Ticket Holders while a $5 donation to the QuackerJack Foundation will apply to the general public. The pitchers scheduled to throw today are:

Fernando Hernandez (RHP) – 2 innings

Steve Garrison (LHP) – 2 innings

Casey Barnes (RHP) – 2 innings

Jeremy Accardo (RHP) – 1 inning

All four pitchers are expected to begin the season in the bullpen, but Hernandez and Barnes are certainly capable of starting if needed. Hernandez, Garrison and Accardo all have Major League experience as well.

Today’s starting lineup for the Ducks will look like this:

#22 Joash Brodin – RF
#5   Chris McClendon – 3B
#24 Fehlandt Lentini – CF
#20 Lew Ford – DH
#13 Adam Bailey – LF
#33 Ryan Strieby – 1B
#2   Cody Puckett – 2B
#27 Keith Castillo – C
#12 Dan Lyons – SS

#29 Fernando Hernandez – RHP

As for the Black Sox, they will be starting a very familiar name to Ducks fans in right-hander Chris McCoy. As for their lineup, it will look like this:

#8   Anthony Luciano – SS
#22 Jerry Geigle – 1B
#5   Richie McCarren – LF
#6   Chris DeGennaro – C
#33 Steve Pileggi – RF
#3   Jon Kourie – CF
#9   Dan Pembroke – DH
#21 Ryan Pembroke – 3B
#7   Matt Kinsella – 2B

#34 Chris McCoy – RHP
